Stahl Eyecare’s very own Dr. Marc Werner was recently featured in a Fox News article outlining the long-term safety and effects of Lasik on patients. As the procedure has been in use since the mid 90’s, there have been questions lingering around the depth of research for Lasik, and what types of long-term effects the surgery may have on those that have undergone Lasik.
The article highlighted the research and testimonials of Dr. Werner and two other eye care specialists. After outlining the details associated with the overall Lasik procedure, the article touched on some of the concerns with the procedure, and the safety of the short-term and long-term results of it. When the interviewer asked Dr. Werner, “Has the technology improved over the last 18 years?”, he confidently responded with, “Absolutely. It’s a safer procedure with better results”.
Delving deeper, Werner stated, “Lasik is an FDA-approved procedure… if there were long-term issues with the procedure, the FDA would pull the procedure off the market, right? And that is absolutely not the case. We still have lots of people we started on 18 to 19 years ago who are perfect. It’s still a very good procedure with long-term results”.
Congrats on the great interview, and thanks for busting that Lasik myth for them, Dr. Werner! To read the full article by Fox News, visit it here.
